Get Rid Of Sharks Sharks buggin' you? To get rid of them pour some fish blood on a paper towel or newspaper and roll it into a ball. Toss it overboard and the sharks will follow it with the current. Many anglers move much too quickly from spot to spot. Many times a hot spot is passed right over. Don't just cast out a couple times and move on - probe it thoroughly from the deepest point right up to the most shallow. Try at least two different lures/bait. There is a craze going on that produces big bass, it's called flippin. Flippin puts the lure where the big bass are.....in cover! You will want a 7 1/2 to 8 foot rod with at least 20 pound test on your reel with the drag tightened. You will also want a 1/8 ounce to 1 ounce weight according to the cover you are trying to go through. Don't forget the big hook, 4/0 to 5/0 is best in my opinion. The technique.....silently put your boat within 20 feet of the cover you want to fish. Hold the rod in your right hand (presuming you are right handed)....

Some of the baits I have used for used for CATFISHing here on the Ohio River are, chicken liver, minnows, shrimp, Spam, French Fries and more. Fresh chicken liver works better than frozen liver that has thawed out. It does get bites however, cats peck at it so by the time you pick up the rod they have cleaned the bait off the hook. My experience is the fish swallows the bait more often than getting hooked. The biggest drawback is keeping the bait on the hook when casting from the bank. Trying to get a long cast with chicken liver is very difficult....

Written on the rod blank or handle is a code number which indicates the line that the rod manufacturer suggests is best for most customers; i. e., 6 line. To most fly anglers, this means that they should use nothing but a 6 weight line with this rod. It was hard to tell just how big the fish was or if it was a Rainbow or big Dolly Varden. Hooking a big upper Kenai river trout in fast water doesn't leave much time for species identification. We all know that plastic worms are one of the most productive lures there are, but did you know certain worms have special uses? I have a whole tackle box with nothing but plastic worms in it, hundreds of them! Here is what I use a certain worm for: Floating Worm...I use this worm in shallow water and mainly in the spring. I use no weight whatsoever and like to use it when the fish just start thinking about spawning. Stick Worm.....I use this worm in 60-70 degree water.
